Using BAT to support and strengthen women who are experiencing the effects of family violence
Please let us know if you are interested by June 2nd, 2017
Adventure Works (AW) are pleased to have been given the opportunity to demonstrate the benefits of BAT in support of women who who have experienced family violence, and their children. In the development stage we want to begin by creating a community of support around the program, and put the word out to identify people who may be interested in having some involvement in the project. It is a 12 month pilot project, in partnership with a women’s refuge in Melbourne, and will use tailored BAT approaches with women and their children. We are putting the word out both to people who might be interested in contributing to a community advisory group in support of the program, and to people who may be interested in being employed as part of a small BAT team based in Melbourne to deliver the project. If this is you, please get in touch.
About Adventure Works
Adventure Works emerged from a shared desire to support the safe and effective use of BAT in Australia and beyond. Through our work, we aim to provide greater access to BAT so that more people benefit from this distinctive healing approach. Where possible we create projects and initiatives that connect with the broader BAT community. As such, we see opportunities like this pilot project as a seriously good opportunity to support women and families, and exemplify the benefits of BAT at many levels. More about us…
Community Advisory Group
By creating a community of support around this project we hope to: a) provide an avenue for the wider BAT community to connect with the project; b) include advice from people who have experienced the effects of family violence directly; and c) bring together key professionals who work in this area, towards the creation of a strong and effective staff team. Through this pilot, we intend to demonstrate the efficacy of tailored BAT approaches, and open a door for more BAT programs and services in this space.
Employment Opportunities
Adventure Works will soon be advertising positions and recruiting a small team of highly skilled and experienced BAT staff. We will be looking for practitioners to fill full time, part time and casual roles with various skill sets, including coordination and management experience, outdoor activity guiding qualifications, counselling or therapeutic qualifications and experience in supporting women, children and young people who are experiencing the effects of family violence.
