Val brings an eclectic professional history to the Adventure Works Team. Originally trained as a Speech Pathologist specializing in acquired and developmental disorders of communication I have also trained and worked within the expressive arts. Recreation in the outdoors has always been important to me. Having been accredited as an outdoor leader/educator I was introduced to the philosophy and practice of Bush Adventure Therapy some seventeen years ago. I continue to work in the field and be personally and professionally, inspired by the therapeutic potential of nature and adventure experiences. In recent years I have become increasingly involved in BAT professional development and teaching. Bringing together the art and science of BAT, melding theory with practice, provoking and fostering broader and deeper understandings of all that BAT is and might be keeps me engaged, challenged and inspired.
